As tricky as these times are, there is nothing remotely tedious about the enjoyment of comforting foods. It is most natural to feed ones cravings and find deeply satisfying satiety.
Nothing brings Charlie and me more pleasure than a bowl or two, or even a pint of delicious ice cream.
Real ice cream isn't easily found anywhere today. New Delhi is no better than New York it seems. Might only be worse.
Hence it ought to be no surprise that I have hoarded up on 10 plus kilos of deliciously indulgent and brilliantly crafted Cold Love ice cream. Ice cream that is all natural. A rarity in our times. Made with the finest of ingredients, and with painstaking care given to every detail, in small batches, labeled and marked personally.
This is ice cream fit to be intimate and in contact with during #SocialDistancing.

Not all ice creams are created equal.

Cold Love is the labor of love of the incredible Aditya Tripathi, the muse to the musical genius Sonam Kalra, and dad to Noor Tripathi.

Aditya did his schooling at Doon School, then went away to study at London School of Economics for his Bachelors and then to IIM Ahmedabad for his Masters degree. With such impeccable education, Aditya has all the chops and credentials necessary for storied success in whatever field he chooses. It has also given Aditya greater access to those introductions and the awareness one must have to have make better choices. Choices that taketh a business to greener outcomes and better product in end.

Adiya began his professional career working in the media with several big houses and for the longest time with Discovery Channel. Later he switched modes and became an entrepreneur in education technology working with kids to educate them on math and science for high school through mobile apps.

Ice cream was a hobby that he perfected as he puttered around the kitchen. Lucky for us that he switched modes and made his hobby his metier.

It is not every day that I gush about ice cream this deeply or consistently. Cold Love is a labor of true love, and dedication to an old craft. A craft that is in dire need of more artists and masterful businessmen investing time in it.

Buy Cold Love at Swiggy or Zomato, or even better directly through Cold Love. You will be happy you did, and your Corona days, and the summer ahead will be spent with sweet and delicious distractions.

Read below for my interview with Aditya and his answers to my questions. He is as sweet as his ice creams, and as generous in person, as his flavors are with taste.

Interview with Aditya Tripathi:

Suvir: Why Cold Love during the time of Corona?
Aditya: I have always been very particular about hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen and this has become even more important in the light of the current coronavirus crisis. Anybody entering the kitchen wears a hair net at all times and washes their hands diligently with soap the moment they enter. Kitchen staff wear clean uniforms and anybody handling food wears gloves and a filtered mask over their face, covering their nose and mouths.
Once the ice cream is ready, it is packed in containers which are closed and then not opened again until the customer opens it.
Our delivery staff have also been trained and made aware of good hygiene practices, which they follow carefully.
Suvir: When did you start making ice cream first?
Aditya: When I was a kid, we had a traditional, hand-churning ice cream bucket at home and every now and then the entire family would take turns to churn the ice cream. About 7 or 8 years ago I decided that it would be fun to try making ice cream at home again, so I bought a machine and would potter around in the kitchen on weekends. Then I started taking a tub of ice cream with me whenever we were invited out to dinner and that’s when people started telling me that the ice cream was really tasty.
Suvir: When did you start Cold Love?
Aditya: Cold Love is about a year old. I started off by buying an ice cream machine and putting it in the kitchen at home. Recently we have set-up a commissary and I now have better equipment and a great kitchen team, although I still call myself the Chef Executive Officer!
Suvir: What was the last day job you left?
Aditya: I worked for many years in different companies in the media industry, including Discovery Channel. I have also worked as a Management Consultant. My last day job was a company I had started to build mobile apps that taught children high-school level maths and science. I exited that a little while ago and then started Cold Love.
Suvir: Your favorite flavor?
Aditya: How can you love one child more than the others ? Although I have to admit that the Salted Butter Caramel is generally my favourite, although I am currently binging on the Coconut Jaggery.

Suvir: Your proudest moment?
Aditya: When Suvir Saran orders the ice cream for his own home!
Suvir: What makes you make ice cream?
Aditya: I really enjoy making new flavours and I absolutely love the look of satisfaction when someone eats my ice cream.
Suvir: How does being a dad to Noor affect your production?
Aditya: Makes me even more conscious of the fact that I need to make really pure and natural ice cream that I can serve, not only to my customers, but now to my daughter as well.
Suvir: How many kilos/pints do you make each day /week?
Aditya: At the moment we are making about 350 litres a week, but are opening more outlets and getting more business customers, so the quantity is increasing almost every week. Plus, I must be one of the few people in Delhi who’s wishing for a really hot summer so that we can sell more ice cream!
Suvir: What is different about Cold Love vs other ice creams?
Aditya: Cold Love ice cream is all-natural. We use natural and real ingredients with no additives, flavour or colour of any kind. So for the Salted Butter Caramel, we caramelise the sugar from scratch and for our fruit flavours we use real fruit.
